20 March 2023📢 We are introducing the 2023 NT Youth Round Table member, Sophia Rogers, 15 years old from Nhulunbuy, East Arnhem region. 🏖️ 🌴 Sophia is currently studying at Senior School 👩🎓. She has been based in Nhulunbuy for over seven years and loves the lifestyle and growing up amongst Yolngu culture. She has been on the Nhulunbuy Youth Council as Secretary for four years. She also works as a swim instructor and a lifeguard at the local pool 🏊. Sophia wants to work towards having a dedicated safe space for Youth to come together (Balanda and Yolngu) for Nhulunbuy. 🎯 Throughout her time on the Youth Round Table Sophia has represented young Territorians voices, particularly around education, safe spaces for young people and opportunities available to young Territorians while in school and post school. 🏫2023 Youth Voice Peak Group
25 February 2023The Department of Education and Training’s Youth Voice Peak Group provides student voice and advice on matters of policy development and program delivery to the department. Sixteen diverse students from government and non-government schools formed the membership of the NT Youth Voice Peak Group in 2023. They provided advice to inform the review into secondary education in the NT and were consulted on the department’s statement of commitment - supporting diversity of sexuality, gender identity and gender expression in education.
