Dream Impact Inspire Boxing Workshops are back!

Dream Impact Inspire will be returning to Nhulunbuy for the second youth boxing workshops of 2023. These will take place over 4 days (19th of September to 22nd of September), followed by exhibition matches on Saturday 23rd.

Congratulations to Taylah Mills (18) and Sophia Rogers (15) for being appointed to the role of 2023 NT Youth Week Ambassador and 2023 NT Youth Round Table member, respectively!

2023 NT Youth Round Table East Arnhem Representative - Sophia Rogers

📢 We are introducing the 2023 NT Youth Round Table member, Sophia Rogers, 15 years old from Nhulunbuy, East Arnhem region. 🏖️ 🌴 Sophia is currently studying at Senior School 👩‍🎓. She has been based in Nhulunbuy for over seven years and loves the lifestyle and growing up amongst Yolngu culture. She has been on the Nhulunbuy Youth Council as Secretary for four years. She also works as a swim instructor and a lifeguard at the local pool 🏊. Sophia wants to work towards having a dedicated safe space for Youth to come together (Balanda and Yolngu) for Nhulunbuy. 🎯 Throughout her time on the Youth Round Table Sophia has represented young Territorians voices, particularly around education, safe spaces for young people and opportunities available to young Territorians while in school and post school. 🏫

2023 Youth Voice Peak Group

The Department of Education and Training’s Youth Voice Peak Group provides student voice and advice on matters of policy development and program delivery to the department. Sixteen diverse students from government and non-government schools formed the membership of the NT Youth Voice Peak Group in 2023. They provided advice to inform the review into secondary education in the NT and were consulted on the department’s statement of commitment - supporting diversity of sexuality, gender identity and gender expression in education. ANZAC Day - Lest We Forget

The Nhulunbuy Youth Council were represented at the ANZAC Day Dawn Service and the Cenotaph Service held on Sunday 25th April 2021.

DJ Skip Funk and Yirrmal - Special Guests for Youth Week Finale

DJ Skip Funk and Yirrmal were our Special guests for the Youth Week Finale at the Nhulunbuy Aquatic Centre. DJ Skip Funk played the latest tunes and Yirrmal brought us a great electric acoustic set to end the day out.

Silent Disco

A collaborative event brought to you by the Nhulunbuy Corporation, NTGOV, Miwatj, East Arnhem Regional Council, Rirratjingu, Gumatj, Anglicare, Laynahapuy and NTPOL brought the Youth of Nhulunbuy, Yirrkala and Ganyungara an activity that was never seen before - A Silent Disco, and it was a lot of fun.

NTYW 2021

NTYW commences on between the 9th - 16th April and there is lots of planning lots of events during the week.

Battle of the Bands 2021

Nhulunbuy Youth Council wish the Nhulunbuy High School Bands all the best in the 2021 Battle of the Bands competition.

Gove FM visit

Minister for Youth Lauren Moss visited 106.9 Gove FM to talk to Rob Stewart about what's happenning in the Youth space in the Northern Territory and said some great things to say about the Nhulunbuy Youth Council.

Kiyarnie Reynolds selected to NT Round Table

Great news was announced whilst Minister for Youth Affairs Lauren Moss visited Nhulunbuy. The Nhulunbuy Youth Council's Chairperson, Kiyarnie Reynolds has been selected onto the NT Round Table for 2021. Well done Kiyarnie!

Lauren Moss, Minister for Education, Youth, Seniors, Children, and Women visited the Nhulunbuy Youth Council and shared an insight into her involvement in her local Youth Council as a teenager. Youth Council Members got to talk about their experience so far and the projects that are underway locally.

Shadow Minister Mr Joshua Burgoyne and Deputy Leader for Country Liberal Party, Gerard Maley met with the Nhulunbuy Youth Council yesterday to discuss their achievements, future projects and challenges faced.

COVID-19 Funding for Nhulunbuy Youth Council

Late last year, the Nhulunbuy Youth Council were very pleased to hear that they were successful with some COVID-19 funding. This funding has gone towards an exciting new marquee and will be for some upcoming cultural awareness training. Thank you Rio Tinto
